American Arab Center for Civil and Human Rights (ACCHR)
ADC's American Arab Center for Civil and Human Rights (ACCHR), An Education & Resource Center, proposes to make its presence permanent in the State of Michigan, home to the largest population of Arab Americans in the United States. A permanent site will bring prestige as well as an answer to a critical need for workspace.
The American Arab Center for Civil and Human Rights (ACCHR) An Education & Resource Center, Inc. will enable the organization to strengthen its advocacy services to the community and broaden its influence throughout Michigan, across the United States, and around the world.
The American Arab Center for Civil and Human Rights (ACCHR) An Education & Resource Center has purchased property and will begin building its two story state-of-the-art center within in the next two years. Architectural and interior design elements will honor the rich Arab culture that the organization promotes.
As the only civil rights organization created to protect the rights of Arab Americans, The American Arab Center for Civil and Human Rights (ACCHR) An Education & Resource Center, Inc. will enable the organization to strengthen its advocacy services to the co maintains a respected and trusted image through advocacy, intervention, counseling, and cultural promotion. Expanding its space will allow The American Arab Center for Civil and Human Rights (ACCHR) An Education & Resource Center to grow its services to match the growing demands of Arab Americans, as well as agencies and organizations demonstrating a need to increase their knowledge of the Arab culture.
A permanent home for The American Arab Center for Civil and Human Rights (ACCHR) An Education & Resource Center, located in Dearborn, will provide critically needed space for
- Reception, registration, and evaluation of discrimination complaints
- Advocacy, counseling, intervention, and mediation
- Educational and cultural sensitivity seminars for media and government agencies
- Programs for young Arab Americans
- An information clearinghouse
- An auditorium for meetings with elected officials and visiting dignitaries
- Creation of a think tank that will develop educational materials for multi-media purposes
ADC is proud to have received the first $1 million contribution to the center as generously donated by the Qatar Foundation and Her Highness Sheikha Mozah Bint Nasser Al-Misnad of the State of Qatar.
