ADC Michigan Salutes CBP Explorer & Dearborn Police Department
ADC Michigan salutes all members of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP Explorer), as well as the Dearborn Police Department, both of which recently attended the 13thAnnual Martin Luther King Scholarship awards ceremony which was held on Friday February 10, 2012. CBP Explorer’s participation greatly added to the value of the diverse audience. ADC Michigan urges the youth to engage in learning about and joining the wonderful CBP Explorer Program. ADC Michigan express its special appreciation to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department for their continued efforts and ongoing participation inthe 13thAnnual Martin Luther King Scholarship Dinner as well as prior events. The presence of the Sheriff Deputies added an element of safety and organization as well as greater diversity tothese events.
HFCC to Host Discussion on Islamophobia
On Tuesday, February 21, 2012 from 11:10am to 2:00pm, two nationally renowned scholars, both of whom are experts on Islamophobia, will discuss the controversial topic of Islamophobia at the Forfa Auditorium: located in the Andrew A. Mazzara Administrative Services Center on the main campus of Henry Ford Community College (HFCC) in Dearborn. University of Michigan (U-M) anthropologist Dr. Andrew Shryock and Columbia University historian Dr. Timothy Mitchell will examine Islamophobia from two distinctive perspectives. ADC Michigan Urges Support of Mr. Barada
OnMonday, February 23, 2012 at 6:00pm, the Friends of Dr. Barada Committee will be hosting a humanitarian fundraising reception at Byblos in Dearborn. The suggested donation is $100. Dr. Suleiman Barada has experienced significant medical expenses as he has coped with a terminal illness.“Dr. Barada is a well respected member of this community.” Said Imad Hamad, Regional Director and Senior Advisor of ADC. “We must all come together to help him continue his battle.”
Sadr Foundation USA Presents: Women’s Health Fair
On Saturday, February 25, 2012 from 10:30am to 1:00pm, Sadr Foundation USA would like to celebrate International Women’s Day and Heart Awareness Month by inviting you to come out to the Arab American National Museum, in Dearborn, to attend a free Women’s Health Fair in collaboration with Oakwood Hospital. The event includes free Blood Pressure and Glucose Screening and Optional Cholesterol check for $8.00. There will also be a 40 minute presentation regarding cardiovascular disease and how small changes in your lifestyle can lower your risk for heart disease and help you live a healthier, longer life. ADC Michigan Welcomes Lebanese American Council of Detroit (LACD)
On Sunday, February 26, 2012 from 3:00pm to 6:00pm, the Lebanese American Council of Detroit (LACD) will be launching an introduction reception as a newly established non-profit organization. International Women’s Day Celebration with ADC Women’s Initiative
The ADC Women’s Initiative is a collaborative formed by 60 Arab American women across the nation to recognize Arab American women and their leadership in supporting the mission of ADC. Their first event in Michigan will be in honor of International Women’s Day and filled with music and entertainment.
